How to Wear Fall Outfits When it is Still Hot Outside
It is September and Starbucks has released its favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte. Stores are shoving leather jackets in our faces and pumpkin patches are going to be opening in just a few short weeks. Yet… you can’t wrap your head around sweaters and tall boots just yet when it is still hot as heck outside. You are not alone.
At the same time, you still want to be with it and moving on to the fall season because, let’s face it, the chance to layer and look cool doing it only lasts so long before the snow starts to fall and all you care about ist staying warm.
So just how does one wear fall outfits when it’s still hot outside? Well, that is what I am going to show you today by rounding up different fall-inspired outfits I’ve worn on the blog over the last 7 years.
Carry a Suede Bag
Don’t even think about wearing suede clothing if it’s about 60 degrees. You’ll sweat right through it. A suede bag, however, is a whole different story. So are suede shoes. Suede is one of those fabrics saved for fall and winter months. Just make sure to treat it with a water and stain repellant, and keep it at home on rainy days.

Wear Velvet Skirt
Toss on a velvet skirt. The fabric is still on the warmer side, however, it’s much more breathable than suede or leather and still very luxe. Check out my post One Velvet Pleated Skirt, Two Ways to see how I styled this look!
Shop Velvet Skirts:
Accessorize with a Tweed Hat
Like velvet and suede, tweed is another fall fabric favorite. I bought this hat on Shein last year and love the statement it makes.

Choose a Jewel-Toned Cover-up
I found this burnt orange velvet cover-up in the accessories department at Target last year. Not only is it the perfect fall color, but it is also very breathable and lightweight for layering over a tank top. Add a velvet belt for an extra luxe look. I just bought this linen-blend duster cardigan from Target for under $30. The linen material makes it the perfect summer to fall transition piece.

Strut in Kitten Heel Pumps
Sandals are for summer like bejeweled kitten heels are to fall. Fabulous. Last year Zara had a great selection of kitten heels. The jewel on these makes such a statement.

Replace Florals with Plaid
Another easy way to transition to fall fashion is to switch out summer patterns to ones more suited to colder weather. Houndstooth, plaid, and argyle are all great examples of fall patterns.
