Fall weddings are my favorite. There is a crispness in the air and the jewel tones come out to play. What to wear to a fall wedding you ask? Well, I am here to help. As I mentioned in a blog post on how to transition your wardrobe to fall, the trick for dressing for a fall wedding follows similar guidelines: incorporate fall tones, accessories, and textures.  My outfit in these photos consists of a black jacket, beige handbag and lace dress which are all timeless and can be worn any season. That is why they make great investment pieces.

Midi Dresses are great because the extra length can help keep your legs warm. Plus, you can dance and move around more comfortably not having to worry about who is seeing what behind you. I love the lace fabric and asymmetrical hem of this dress I am wearing.  I also love the full tulle skirt and pretty coloring on this dress. And whatever you do, DO NOT wear white. Unless the invitation specifically says to do so- this color is reserved for the bride. It’s like an unspoken rule that everyone knows and you don’t want to be the person everyone is glaring at.

Bring something to cover up with if the temperature starts to drop. A cropped jacket, wrap or caplet all make great options. I am obsessed with these bell sleeve jacket from TopShop. So much so that I also bought it in pink and am a click away from buying it in any other color it comes in. I also have a faux fur caplet similar to this one that I love to wear to more formal events in the fall and winter.

Dust off your dancing shoes! If you’re like me and like to get out on the dance floor, then wear shoes that are comfortable to dance in. I usually have a pair of roll-up flats and band-aids in my bag. These Valentino heels are pretty, but I already know I would not last very long on the dance floor in them.

There you have it. Happy dancing and feel free to email me or leave a comment below with any other style advice you’re looking for!

xoxo,
Laura
