Today is the day I get to reveal my beautiful new floors from Everhome! When I bought my first house, I knew I would need to replace the chipping 94-year-old floors. Nearly two years later, the new floors were finally installed and they are perfect! This new flooring has made such a tremendous difference in the overall aesthetic and lighting of the house. I am sharing the process from start to finish in this post to answer all your questions.
Choosing the Best Flooring Company
I knew I would need durable flooring for everyday wear and tear, living with a large dog that loves to run through the house full speed and lots of foot traffic. Plus, I eventually want to rent this house and durable floors are a MUST for renters. I searched high and low for a good flooring manufacturer and finally chose Everhome Flooring. Everhome offers stylish flooring for every home. They believe designer floors should be easily accessible to everyone with a mission to deliver upscale, yet affordable flooring. Their Rigid Core SPC vinyl flooring is easy to install, maintain, and easy on your wallet. They offer free samples so you can shop and purchase with confidence that the color you choose will be the best fit for your home. They also offer free shipping on Everhome orders! With over 30 years of experience, Everhome has a dedicated customer service team ready to answer any of your questions that are not already answered in their FAQ section
Hardwood floors are great. However, the lifespan and durability of a hardwood floor are not that of high-quality vinyl floors. That is why I decided to go with natural hardwood-looking scratch-resistant vinyl floors. Everhome offers shades and finishes in line with the latest in home decor trends. Their Rigid SPC vinyl flooring for as low as $2.99 a square foot. They also offer artificial grass for your outdoor or patio space! Each of their products is manufactured in a state-of-of the art facility that undergoes annual audits to ensure they meet safety and ethical manufacturing practices. And on top of all that, Everhome offers a lifetime residential and 15-year light commercial warranty.
I wanted a natural wood shade to compliment the more red-toned wood doors in my house so I went with the Napa Oak shade. The lightest of their Roman Holiday SPC Vinyl Flooring Collection. I also wanted a color that would brighten up the rooms and not show Lady’s dog hair. Napa Oak is perfect for this! The Oak and Beachwood varieties in their Contemporary Cabin collection are stunning as well and I definitely recommend having a look.
Things to know when ordering flooring:
There are a few important things to consider when ordering new flooring. Measure yourself, double check your measurements, include 7-10% extra for waste, decide if you can install the flooring on top of your existing flooring. Is your current flooring flat? If not, the planks may not click in properly and lay flat. There are going to be some pieces that have to be cut shorter for corners, closets, etc. When the flooring gets delivered, it may be delivered on a pallet which is quite heavy. I had it delivered and left in my driveway until the day of installation when one by one those boxes were brought in to save space in my home.

Try the Room Visualizer
Not sure what kind of flooring will look best in your home? Not to worry. Try Everhome’s Room Visualizer. Simply upload a photo of your space and try out the different Everhome product shades until you find the color you like best. I kept my free flooring samples on the floor for a few days to see them in different light throughout the day, in different spaces, and from different angles, as I walked over them each day.
Installation is super easy with step-by-step installation videos to help with your flooring or artificial grass install. Because of all of the corners, closets, and cutouts in my house, I decided to hire a professional flooring company which I’ll talk about a bit farther down in this post.

Flooring Install with VICTORY FLOORS:
I had gotten several quotes from different companies to install the floors. Some of the bids included completely ripping out the existing hardwood floors and laying down plywood, but because the integrity of the existing floors was still good, I decided to save a bit of money and just put the vinyl floors “floating” on top of the existing hardwood floors.
The install crew from Vicory Flooring and Construction showed up at 8 am and got to work. I was impressed with the efficiency and quality of their workmanship. They even installed the baseboard in the closets which most companies try to cut corners and not install there. Luckily, I did not need to cut the bottom of any doors for clearance over the floors. However, this is something to consider when installing flooring. Especially on top of another flooring.
Baseboards are another important factor to consider. The previous baseboard in these rooms was about 3.5 inches high. Because the workers were very careful in removing it, there were not any large gaps to fill on the wall, and were able to replace it with another 3.5-inch baseboard. If you have walls that crumble or leave gaps when the baseboard is removed, consider ordering a 4” or taller baseboard to cover those holes. Otherwise, you’ll have to patch and putty adding an extra step to your installation.
