Ieena for MacDuggal Blue Prom Dress

When Omeed asked me to be his date to his best friend’s wedding I searched to find the perfect dress for the occasion. One that would make an appropriate statement. By appropriate I mean not overshadowing the bride. After browsing numerous websites, Instagram and Pinterest for what seemed like days with no end, I finally came upon this blue prom dress by Ieena for MacDuggal.

I’ll admit that at first, I was not sure the dress was going to be too much. However, the dress code for a formal wedding is as follows:

Formal Attire or Black Tie Optional: A long evening dress, dressy suit or formal cocktail-length dress.

And since Omeed was wearing a tuxedo and it was an evening wedding, I knew that this long blue prom dress would pair with him beautifully. You can see a photo of us together on my Instagram here.   The elegant off-shoulder neckline with princess seams gives the bodice a defined fitted form. The A-line skirt has fabulous volume with a very modest slit on one side and subtle train in the back. It’s not too long that other people will step on with is a huge plus.

The only issue with this blue prom dress was that I was not able to lift my arms very high on the dance floor. But when Omeed would twirl me around the skirt would beautifully billow.

The dress fit true to size. My measurements are 36inx30inx40 and I was comfortable in a size 10.

Side note: I tried to get the color of the bridesmaid dresses beforehand. Luckily they were all wearing red dresses. Not that it would be the end of the world if you did wear the same color as the bridesmaids. Personally, I just like to try and avoid that.

I did my hair in a simple up-do to not take any attention away from the dress and my jewelry was simple diamond tennis style bracelet, cocktail ring and chandelier earrings. You can see

And if you’re wondering what I actually wore to my senior prom… it was this Hollywood inspired red beaded prom dress. I felt like a goddess the night I got to wear this dress. However, since then my tastes have changed to more elegant dresses like this blue Macduggal prom dress.

As always, thank you for stopping by.

Laura
