5 Tips for a Beautiful Home

Whenever I receive compliments on my home, I know it is thanks to a few particular rules that I follow. So today I thought I’d share my 5 tips for a beautiful home no matter the time of year.

1. Stay Organized

I realize this is more easily said than done, but it is so important to a beautiful home. When things have a place to go, it is easier to keep a clean house and therefore a clean mind. I don’t know about you but clutter drives me crazy! Here are a few excellent ideas for organization tricks on Pinterest.

The only reason I am able to find anything in my walk-in closet as I can is that I keep it strictly organized.  Same thing for my kitchen, especially with my love of dishware.

2. Rid your Home of Clutter

If you no longer use it, donate it or sell it. Websites like Offer Up and Let Go are great for selling household items. Or host a good ole’ fashioned garage sale or a home decor swap. I recently went to a clothing swap and it was so much fun! A lot of my items found good homes and I came home with some great finds myself.

3. Only Buy it if you Absolutely Love It

This is a rule I swear by whenever I walk into a home decor store like Home Goods. It keeps me from coming home with a bunch of stuff that I don’t need that would only create clutter and ultimately stress.

4. Use Pinterest for Home Decor Inspiration

I find a lot of my home decor inspiration from magazines like House Beautiful and my many themed home decor Pinterest boards. Here are a few of my favorites:

West Palm Beach Style which inspired my own Palm Beach home makeover here.

Home Decor & Interior Design: for all things luxury and ideas for my future home.

My Dream Closet: complete with all the fixings for my future walk-in closet!

5. Pick a Theme and Stick with It

Pinterest boards really help to select a theme. Pin images to a board and start to notice what kinds of themes you are drawn to whether it is a particular style, color, patterns, etc. I have a great love for color, but as I am shopping, if I can’t picture how that green pillow will fit in my current decor theme, it stays at the store.

Click on any of the photos to be taken to that particular blog post to see more photos and shop the items. You can find all of my other home decor posts here and on the menu at the top.

As always, thank you for stopping by!

xoxo,
Laura
