The Best Books of 2020

I have been meaning to share this post for quite some time and with the self-quarantine going on right now, it seems like the perfect time…

Many amazing things can be learned about ourselves and the world by simply picking up a book. If you are like me and are easily distracted, I recommend downloading a service called Audible by Amazon that lets you listen to book recordings.  Often times the book is being read by the author themselves! I like to listen to my audible books on the way to the gym, while running errands, and anytime I’m in the car. It’s amazing how much you can learn from just opening a book. Here are the best books of 2020

Inspiration

Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk.

For those of you who don’t know who, Gary Vee this guy is non-stop in the social media world and building an empire. When I listen to him speak, I realize the only thing really standing in our way of success is ourselves. He gives examples of how to start from the ground up and includes examples of people who have done it themselves.

You are a Badass by Jen Sincero

I have legit listened to this book 5 times. Jen helped me find a ton of confidence that I was missing when I first started blogging full time. I would listen to her hilarious stories on the way to a job I hated and think to myself “I’ve got this!” And if you like this book, make sure to check out her prequel “You Are a Badass At Making Money.”

Money:

I’ve written about this book before in this post. It definitely makes it to my top 10 list. This book changed my life and taught me how to ask for more money. Especially as a woman! It’s so important to know your worth, understand how to explain that and how to stick up for what you believe in. A must-read, particularly for anyone afraid of every asking for a raise or money in general.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

This book brought to light so much of the financial situation in America that I didn’t even realize was going on. We get a better job that pays more money, so we buy a bigger home and a nicer car. The expenses grow and grow, but our wealth doesn’t. Ken really brings to light how to become a millionaire.

Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

Although I differ in some beliefs when it comes to Dave Ramsey’s “never borrow money” belief, he does make a lot of great points in this book and I suggest everyone read it to understand that borrowing money really isn’t always a good thing, how to pay of debt, and what you could be doing with that money instead!

Self-Help Books:

Turning Adversaries into Allies: Win People Over Without Manipulation or Coercion by Bob Burg

This book helps train your mindset and your mannerisms of how to approach people in all types of situations. The ability to persuade someone when you really need them on your side. A great read for any industry and everyday situations.

The Universe Has Your Back by Gabby Bernstein

If you’ve ever felt spiritually stuck or just not sure where to turn, this book is for you. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to put less stress on the outcome and to focus my energy instead on the steps I need to take to get there. Gaby explains how it’s important to center ourselves and let the universe guide you on this journey of life.

Body Love: Live in Balance, Weigh What You Want and Free Yourself from Food Drama Forever by Kelly Leveque

I never really understood nutrition until I picked up this book. As someone who has suffered from skin issues, bloating, and acne, I implemented the “Body Love” lifestyle and my gut is so much happier now! She shares a lot of easy to understand nutritional information and even a few recipes for her Fab Four smoothies!

Dating:

Get the Guy by Matthew Hussey

You’ve heard me talk about this book a million times. I often refer to it as my dating bible. Matthew teaches you how to understand and master the basics of dating. He shows you examples of how to talk to men that will take the edge off. Plus, he’s got an adorable accent to listen to.

Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man by Steve Harvey

In this book, Steve makes it very clear whether or not a man is into you and how he SHOULD behave if he is. Ladies, read this and never settle for a man who doesn’t meet these standards.

I would love to hear what are some of your favorite books in the comments below!

Stay safe and healthy everyone.
xoxo,
Laura
