Wedding season is officially here and with that comes selecting spring wedding outfits to wear to one or multiple nuptials. There are a few things to consider when selecting what to wear… First, you’ll want to ask yourself the following questions:
- Level of formality: Is it black-tie/formal or semi-formal?
- What will the weather be like? Hot, cold, raining, etc?
- Location: Where will the wedding take place? A beach, indoors, grass, etc?
Try and ask these questions ahead of time (not the day of or day before the actual wedding) Knowing in advance gives you enough time to put a look together and shop for anything else you may need. Double check the invitation; it may have the dress code written there.
Is it black-tie or semi-formal?
Black Tie Spring Wedding Outfits:
A black tie wedding normally involves tuxedo’s for men and evening gowns (aka floor length dresses) for ladies. Now, as a lady, if the dress code says black tie, you can get away with wearing a dress that isn’t floor length. Think mid-length to cocktail length (aka above the knees.) This does NOT mean club dresses/hoochie mama attire. Keep it classy, ladies!
Semi-Formal Spring Wedding Outfits:
For semi-formal weddings (usually, this covers most weddings) spring wedding outfits can consist of cocktail dresses or even daytime dresses are appropriate.I’ve picked out a few of my favorite semi-formal dresses below. These are great options for daytime/late afternoon weddings.

This tip mainly focuses on the appropriate type of shoes to wear for the wedding. An indoor wedding will allow for a much wider selection of shoe options than say a beach wedding. Stilettos and sand/grass situations do not mix well. Wedges for the grass and sandals for the beach are your safest bet!
Bonus Tip… Here are four important items to carry in your purse:
1. Tissues- you just might tear up during the ceremony
2.A compact mirror to check your makeup if need be
3.Chapstick/lipstick. I carry both to keep my lips hydrated and my color in check.
4.Mints: You never know who you might meet at the party 😉
