I’d like to introduce you all to the newest addition to the Laura Lily closet… the Saint Laurent Monogram bag. For a few months now, I’ve been looking for a light-colored handbag for spring/summer similar to my go-to black bag. A bag I can get a lot of use out of and wear to a variety of occasions. When purchasing a bag, I am also very particular about the kind of leather. If it scratches or stains easily, no thank you! I don’t want anything that’s so fragile I have to worry about messing it up every time I wear it. The leather on the bags I mention in this post is all a very durable, scratch/water resistant type of leather that can take some wear and tear.
For a long time, I had my eye on this clutch, but figured a bag with a strap was more practical when I’d like to have my hands free. I also wanted silver hardware, since, in my opinion, gold can sometimes be overwhelming for casual looks. When Saint Laurent finally released this bag I just didn’t love the color “powder beige.” I even went to the Saint Laurent store to try it on. Still didn’t love it. You all know my rule, if you don’t LOVE it, don’t buy it. Save your money for something you truely love. I also believe that you should spend money on quality pieces instead of just buying a lot of things because they are cheap.
Right as I turned to walk out of the Saint Laurent store, I noticed another medium sized beige bag in the corner of my eye. The sales associate pulled it off the shelf for me and I examined it closely. It was a perfect size (not too big, not too small), the beige color I was looking for and classic yet still trendy. I never make impulse purchases so I took photos of the two bags side by side (you saw it on my Instagram) thanked the lady for her time and walked out fo the store. Over the next few days, I mulled over the two bags and started to fall in love with the mixed chevron/quilted pattern. So I started searching the internet for where to buy the bag. I prefer to buy from larger department stores like Saks, Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom because they have a better return policy. I finally found the bag on Saks and hit “Buy Now” pretty quickly. It was an agonizing (first world problem) waiting the 5 days for the Saks team to “approve my purchase.” Um- American Express already said this is a go, what’s taking so long? I guess they have to verify large purchases to protect customers. I get it and tried hard to be patient.
When the bag finally arrived, I loved it the moment I pulled it out of the box. It’s definitely my go-to summer bag and you’ll be seeing a lot more of it here on the blog.
