A DAY AT MALIBU WINE SAFARI
For my birthday this year, I wanted to check an item off my bucket list. That particular item was taking the Malibu Wine Safaris Tour. Liz and Tony joined me for a fun afternoon in Malibu Canyon where we jumped on the back of a truck and toured around the Malibu Winery property. Full of all types of both domestic and exotic animals. My highlight was of course meeting Mr. Stanley the giraffe. Giraffes have been my favorite zoo animal since I was little. I guess their tall and beautiful physics, goofy looking to some, always make me smile. Stanley was a sweetheart and I even got to pet his face. You can see his purple tongue sticking out trying to grab the lettuce in my hand in the first photo.
The Malibu Wine Safari property does a great job of coming up with funny videos for all the animals including Yak-efron, Yakira for some of the yaks. Michelle and Barak O-Llama. I wish I could remember all of the names for you all. The tour guides were great as well with plenty of clever jokes and lots of interesting facts about the winery and the vineyards.
The Malibu Wine Safari tour lasts about one hour and they drive you through the beautiful property sharing fun facts and it’s beautiful history. Stopping a few times to let you get off to feed/pet the animals and of course, pour you wine!! The tour is 21 plus so no kids allowed. It honestly was one of my favorite birthday experiences. They offer different tours so if you want to meet Stanley, just make sure you choose that option. You can see all of their tours here: www.lasafaris.com.
My Malibu Wine Safari outfit: I opted for a safari themed look. I picked up this super comfortable shirt dress at H&M last month ($35 and it also comes in pink!) Then I had a convertible Henri Bendel backpack so I could keep my hands free to feed the animals. I’ve been wearing this bag non-stop now and am considering getting it in another color like this black and white version. I knew we would be talking on uneven gravel so wore some comfortable (low-heeled) boots. Ladies leave the heels at home. You’d hate to ruin them.
Next time I have friends in visiting from out of town I am definitely taking them on this Malibu Wine Safari tour. It’s our own little gem of a safari tour right in Malibu.
