Omeed and I decided to take a little retreat for ourselves up to Vancouver, Canada last week. We stayed at the luxurious JW Marriott Parq Vancouver located right on the waterfront in the heart of the city. It’s located near Rogers Arena, BC Place, and Queen Elizabeth Theatre and within walking distance to the cities’ public transportation options.

Each of the rooms has floor-to-ceiling windows and scenic city, ocean and mountain views. Vancouver truly is a beautiful city from every angle and easy to explore!

Activities at the JW Marritott Parq Vancouver

We headed to the Spa by JW after check in to enjoy a couples aromatherapy massage. The lavender oil instantly helped my muscles relax after a 2 hour delayed flight and a long custom’s line.  Afterward, we had a tour of the property thanks to Nicole, the hotel’s social media marketing director. The hotel has a number of wellness features including a spa, fitness center, rooftop Aqua Lounge,  three bars, three restaurants, and it’s connected to the Parq Casino.

One of my favorite spots of the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver was the rooftop park pictured in my yoga photo above with a calming water attraction. It’s a lovely juxtaposition to have a park in the middle of a group of highrise buildings.

If you’re looking for a little glamour time during your trip, the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver offers the first of its kind in Vancouver, The Glamoury, a luxury makeup and blowout salon. I did not get to try it on this trip, however it is definitely the kind of thing I would enjoy on any trip.

JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Wellness Packages

If you and your honey, friends or family are looking for a fun getaway the Parq Vancouver offers a few special vacation packages including a Romance Package for you and your honey, maybe an anniversary gift for the parents? Maybe even a Luxury Spa Package for a girls weekend getaway. Or a Fall Signature Getaway for those drier months of the year.

Dining at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver

The hotel hosts a number of world-class restaurants and lounges led by James Beard Award-nominated masterminds Elizabeth Blau and her husband, chef Kim Canteenwalla.

We had the pleasure of trying two of the hotel’s four restaurants. Honey & Salt and MRKT East. Honey & Salt is a bistro-style restaurant favors farm-to-table cuisine with fresh and local ingredients. We had the honor of meeting the chef as Omeed and I enjoyed the patio to ourselves and plenty of the chef’s recommendations including the garlic shrimp, Honey Salt Market- a combination of vegetables served with sweet potatoe chips an edemame hummas and a carrot miso dip. For our entrees we had the grilled Iberico pork ecreto, and Canadian Prime Striploin followed by the biggest slice of what they call the Society Chocolate and Banana Cake. A great option to share with the table (and even the table next to you! )

MRKT East is another restaurant that is great for lunch or a casual dinner. It has a great happy hour menu and features a combination of different Asian cuisines.  If you love Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, Indian or singaporean food, give MRKT East a try. The bbq pork buns and chow mein are my personal favorite.

This JW property also has an Executive Lounge which serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day. (And alcholic drinks later afternoon-evening if you decide not to visit one of the hotel’s lounges.) It’s buffet style with an array of options morning and afternoon. Make sure to try all of the fresh juices, particulary the Cypress Hill.

JW Marriott Parq Vancouver Casino

Our first night after dinner at Honey & Salt, Omeed took me for a bit of gambling at Parq Casino located on the second floor of the hotel.  I’m not really into gambling, but since the casino was connected to the hotel and a 5-minute walk from our room we figured, why not?! I did win a bit of money at Black Jack (I was up $15 on a $5 buy in) and played a few penny machines. Once I lost all of that I decided that I’d rather spend my money on travel and Jimmy Choos.

Vancouver Travel Guide Coming Soon!

I’ll be writing a separate Vancouver Travel Guide featuring all of the tours, restaurants, and activities we got to experience outside the hotel next week. For those of you planning a trip to Vancouver, the Parq was nice enough to create a list of Vancouver’s Most Instagrammable Destinations.  Until then, you can see my all of my Instagram stories in my highlights, my Vancouver Travel Guide from 2016 and see reviews of other JW Marriott Properties I’ve had the opportunity to stay at below:
