5 Self-Care Ideas to Do Today

Whether you have had a busy day, week, or month, we all need those days when we can just sit back and relax. Maybe we don’t have time to go to the spa or they are completely booked until next month. You don’t actually need to leave your home to have a spa-like experience. Here are five self-care ideas to do at home that will leave you feeling zen-like and re-aligned.

1. Have a rainy-day movie marathon.

Sometimes all we need to do to recharge ourselves is well… absolutely nothing. Just snuggle up on the couch with your favorite faux-fur blanket, a bowl of popcorn, and binge-watch your favorite feel-good films!

2. Cuddle up with a good book

Cuddle up with a hot cup of tea, or an oat-milk matcha latte and get lost in an adventure. My favorite thing to read to unwind is actually my Southern Living magazine.  I get tons of home decor and recipe ideas!

3. Take a bath.

I especially love a hot bath on days my muscles are aching or I just feel chilled to the bone. Run a nice warm bath, turn the lights low or light some candles, put on a podcast, throw in some Epsom salt, and just soak for a while. Taking a hot bath is the perfect way to relax after a stressful day, and healing crystals can take your self-care experience to the next level. You can research healing crystals and their meanings ahead of time to come up with an individualized healing ritual that combines the healing effects of both water and crystal healing together. Treat yourself to a Rustic Elements natural soap gift set. The gift set includes a natural loofah sponge, natural hand-made soap, and an exfoliating sugar scrub. Then once you get out, lather on some body oils, your favorite moisturizing lotion (mine is this Eczema Honey body lotion.) See more of my winter skincare favorites here.

4. DIY Spa Session

Take a shower and immediately after, apply a face mask. If your skin has been dry and lacking moisture, apply a hydrating mask, if you are noticing more breakouts and dead skin, apply a charcoal clarifying mask. I love to run my facial steamer while I apply my masks and lotions. Apply a hyaluronic acid serum afterward followed by your favorite facial moisturizer. Don’t forget to apply your products to your neck and decolletage! Follow up with a body serum then get into your coziest loungewear and move to steps one or two!

5. Create a Vision Board

One of my favorite ways to zone out is to do a small craft project. The other day I organized all of the clippings I had cut out of magazines and created my 2023 vision board.  It is hanging above my desk and is full of photos that inspire me, outfit ideas, my goals, and photos of places I want to visit. When I am at my desk and look up at it, it is an escape for my mind to see all those beautiful images and a reminder of what I am working towards. If you don’t feel like creating a physical vision board, have fun pinning images that inspire you on Pinterest!

I hope you all have an amazing and relaxing weekend and a chance to recharge. Here are a few more ways to wind down at home. As always, thank you for stopping by!

xoxo,

Laura
