I like to take a bit of extra time in my weekly beauty routine to really pamper myself.  I do this routine in the comfort of my own home and these beauty treatments not only make me feel good, they are also good for me. I’ve noticed a difference in my skin, hair, and nails since starting this routine a few weeks ago.

HAIR

The first part of my weekly beauty routine is a mask that I apply to my hair. I only have to wash my hair about twice a week. Living in a super dry winter climate like LA, it just doesn’t produce the oils that it used to so I can go longer lengths of time without washing.  Plus, it’s such a hassle to have to style it afterward. Lately, I’ve been using this castor oil hair serum recipe to help strengthen and grow my hair. I ordered these glass bottles on Amazon along with the oils, mixed them together and apply to my scalp once a week.  I’ll section my hair, apply droplets of the oil all over my scalp, massage it in and then go about my day if I am staying at home. Other times I’ll put a shower cap on and sleep with the oil in my hair then shower the next day. It does take a bit more time in the shower to get the oils out, just FYI. If you’re in a rush I would suggest waiting until you have a bit more time to wash it out and style your hair. I started this routine a few weeks ago. Already I can tell my hair is loving the extra attention. It is less dry and shinier! Plus, castor oil is a known agent to helping hair grow!

If I am short on time or just want a quick mask, I really love the DP Hue Renew Hair Masque Therapy. It smells divine and washes out really easily.  I just apply it to the ends of my hair when I get out of the shower, leave it on for about 15 minutes, then wash it out and go about getting ready.

EYELASHES

I used to have incredibly long eyelashes as a child. As I’ve grown older and abused them with eyelash extensions, curlers, and makeup remover products I’ve definitely lost a few. I don’t like the idea of putting a harsh growth serum like Latisse on my eyelashes, so I actually use the same castor + jojoba oil treatment that I do on my hair on my eyelashes. I try to remember to put in on every night, (sometimes I forget.) I do notice a bit of extra growth and when I put on mascara my eyelashes are like POW. (The Superhero mascara is my current favorite.)

FACE

I have extremely dry skin and with the dry winter weather, it can get a bit flakey and extra sensitive. So twice a week I apply the Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask by Dermalogica.  If my skin is fighting breakouts, I will apply a charcoal mask like the Freeman Beauty Infusion Charcoal & Probiotics mask that helps remove impurities and bacteria that cause breakouts.  The BEST way to avoid breakouts: a healthy diet. I noticed the better I eat the better my skin feels! Especially if I avoid dairy. That seems to be a big trigger for me. And to remove your makeup. Every. Single. Night. No excuses! These Kleenex Exfoliating Cushions are the best for exfoliating and washing off any residue. Then I’ll apply either the charcoal or hydrating mask, just depending on what I’m needing.

NAILS

My nails break so easily and it’s very frustrating. I take a biotin pill every day and that definitely helps. I also go a step further and about once a week remove my nail polish and apply a nail strengthening treatment overnight. Sometimes multiple nights in a row.  It helps keep my nails strong and less susceptible to breakage.

What are some of your weekly beauty routine secrets?  I would love to hear in the comments below!

xoxo,

Laura
