When All Your Girlfriends Have Boyfriends
My last single girlfriend recently told me she now has a boyfriend. This makes me the lone single gal amongst my girlfriends. I’m not upset about it. Instead, I see it as a great opportunity to expand my social circle. So I decided to write a post about what to do when all of your girlfriends have boyfriends.
I am happy for all of my girls. It is no surprise to me that they are no longer on the market. Why? Because they are all amazing women and the men who swept them up realize that. It just leaves me in a funny spot because I like to have my wing women at the ready for a night out on the town! Sure, we still go out and have fun girls nights. But they are no longer looking for cute guys to flirt with. I’m on my own. So what am I going to do about it? Find more single girlfriends!
Now let me preface this post by saying that I’m not single because I can’t find a boyfriend. Everyone can find a relationship if they really want one. The difference is, I’m not looking for one. I like the idea of a relationship, but it has to be the right fit. Plus, I’m really enjoying the single life right now. I was in a serious relationship for a long time (seven years- yes, I know, that’s a really long time) so it’s nice to finally enjoy some single life perks.
It can be harder to make new friends as we get older. It’s because everyone has such busy schedules so when we do have free time, we like to spend it with people we already know. But if we are willing to put in the effort, growing our social circle isn’t that difficult. It’s time for me to break out of my comfort zone and go meet new people.
This whole lone ranger thing gives me a great excuse to reach out to acquaintances and get to know them better. I’ll get to go out to new places and learn new things. Meeting new people will also open up my circle to new dating prospects. I’ve always believed that the best way to find a great guy is through friends anyway. And even if it doesn’t work out with a guy romantically, male friends are awesome. They are always useful to call upon when you have a car question, need advice about guys, or want to know what type of whiskey to get for your bar cart.
