Hiking with Backcountry
If this year has taught us anything it is that outside truly does wonders for our mind, body, and soul. I am very lucky to have a new hiking buddy to explore the trails with. Up until this point in my life, I have never owned proper hiking gear so I figured now was as good of a time as any to invest. I was very happy to find Backcountry.com, a site dedicated to the outdoors. Especially with their semi-annual sale with up to 50% off gear, apparel, and more. Happening right now until August 28th!
The sale includes well known and loved brands such as Patagonia, The North Face, and Sorel to name a few. Whether you are planning a road trip, a hike, a camping trip or paddleboarding they have got something for everyone. Even kids and toddler clothing.
A pair of proper hiking boots was top of the list. I was initially drawn to the color of the Salomon hiking boot. I particularly like that it comes up a bit higher on the ankle for hikes through different types of terrain. It also comes in a mid and wide width. My feet are on the narrower side and the mid-width fit just fine.
I was looking for comfortable hiking shoes for women on Backcountry.com when I came across their collection of dog supplies. I figured a dog harness would come in handy if Lady needed assistance on the trailer and I was right. It’s proven itself quite useful getting her in and out of the car and making sure she doesn’t try to jump out before she should. It also gives me peace of mind that I can pick her up off the ground out of harm’s way if there is another dog or animal on the trail. In fact, it has been so useful that I’ll be ordering larger sizes as needed as she grows.
A hiking backpack has also come in quite handy to carry our snacks, water, and any other supplies we might need. The fit of this backpack is super comfortable, not to mention I love the color. The size you see here is a 9L extra small/small. When I ordered it I thought it may be a bit too small for my 5’9″ frame but it actually fits perfectly since I did not want something too large.
