Best Red Lipsticks by Los Angeles Beauty Blogger Laura Lily,With a certain “red” themed holiday around the corner, a blog post about the best red lipsticks just seems so appropriate.

If I could only wear one shade of lipstick for the rest of my life, it would be red. It’s sultry, it’s classic, and it instantly glamorizes any look. As an avid collector of red lipsticks, I thought I’d share the brands and colors I think make the cut for the best red lipsticks. Please note, these are not listed in any particular order, they simply stood out from all of the red lipsticks I have ever tried.

Urban Decay “Heat Metallized” $17

This red shade is a bit different than the others listed. It has a metallic tone that gives it a slight shimmer. It’s not quite as red, however, I will say that it matches just as many outfits and stays on quite well.

Bare Mineral’s Marvelous Moxie “Live It Up” $20

This lipstick really gives your lips a pretty gloss color. It applies beautifully and has a nice hydrating quality to it. I suggest using a lip liner to help the lipstick stay in place and not “bleed” (go outside the lines of your lips.) This color may be a bit harder to find. Bare minerals also makes a sister to this lipstick called “Srlsy Red” and the colors are identical.

Cover Girl “Hot Passion” $6

I’ve had this same tube of lipstick for years and it still hasn’t run out! I use the matching lip pencil in “Passion” (see the last product listed) to help this lip color stay on longer.  It can be a bit on the dry side, so midday I sometimes swipe it off, and reapply. Important to note: the drier consistency of this formula is also what helps it avoid smearing or bleeding! You can pick this color up at your local Target or drug store.

Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in #01 “Always Red” $14

I love to “paint my lips” with this lip stain. It stays really nicely and doesn’t dry out my lips or smudge easily. I suggest exfoliating your lips before applying and make sure your lips are dry. Apply a thin layer, let dry for a few seconds, then add another, and repeat until you’re satisfied.

Bare Mineral’s Matte Lip Color in “VIP” $19

Another gloss I love to “Paint my lips” with. This pigment is a bit redder than the Sephora Collection lip stain. (The other has an underlying pink tone.) Again, not drying and stays on beautifully!

Christian Louboutin “Altressa” $85

If the hefty price tag doesn’t scare you away… this bottle makes a statement AND the gloss is fierce. Definitely, suggest priming your lips with a red pencil to help the product stay in place and carrying concealer with you in case the gloss gets smeared!

Cover Girl Lip Pencil in color “Passion” $6

I use this lip pencil underneath all of my red lipsticks. It’s inexpensive, glides on really nicely and stays PUT! I’ve seen it at Target and other drug stores.

There you have it. My favorite red lipsticks of all time. If you have another brand you think I should try, let me know in the comments below!

xoxo,
Laura
