Traveling is supposed to be relaxing, isn’t it? Even if you’re headed off to one of the densest metropolises on earth, you’re doing so to get away from daily life! But when you really need to relax, there’s one kind of trip that beats the rest of them out of the water: going on a road trip.
Whether you’re planning to go solo or you fancy bringing some friends along, road tripping is a great way to relax and get your mojo back! And if you don’t quite believe us about that, check out the reasons below.
You Can Go at Your Own Pace
This is quite honestly the best thing about going on a road trip. You’re not tied into anyone else’s schedule, whether it’s the airline’s itinerary or someone else’s idea of a good driving schedule. You can go at your own pace, no matter how fast or slow that really is.
And sure, you may run into some traffic or experience some vehicle trouble along the way, but it’s a lot more freeing than being sat in a long-haul flight seat for 10 or more hours! And you can often make up the time by taking short cuts here and there too, which is something planes aren’t known for.
There are Plenty of Places for Downtime
When you’re on a road trip, you can stop whenever you want. Really, you could just pull your car or RV over to the side of the road (ensuring you’re not blocking any access) and spend 20 or so minutes just sitting there.
And if the ability to stop, think, rest your eyes, and nap whenever you want isn’t relaxing, we don’t know what is!
Of course, it’s best to take these stops at safe places with lots of facilities, so you can be sure you’re in easy reach of food, water, and someone to speak to. But it’s still very easy to relax at an RV park; just find yourself a space, turn off the engine, and spend the time getting into your zen zone!
You Can Pack Much More Than if You Were Flying!
That’s the best thing about being in a vehicle of your own – you’re not confined to around 20kg of luggage. You can pack as much as you want, and a lot more than if you were deciding to fly to your destination.
That means you can bring many relaxing items on the trip with you, whether it’s a full on wearable massager or your own kit of relaxing topical oils you like to use before bed. If there’s space in the trunk for them, you’re going to be able to pack them.
All in all, going on a road trip might just be the best form of travel for those of us looking to truly relax. Get your bags packed with as much as you like, make sure you’ve planned out some downtime, and go at the right pace for you.
