Last year I wrote a post about a book I had read called, “Being A Badass” by Jen Sincero. A very witty, real life scenario book about how to manifest the life you want. Yes, it is a “self-help” book, but if you’re too proud to read these kinds of books then I’ll ask you this, what’s the harm in reading to better yourself?
I’ll admit, I only started reading Jen’s book after my sister suggested it. I hesitated at first (my sister and I had different tastes in a lot of things.) But I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did because it taught me to see the world a bit differently. If I want a change to happen I have to believe in my core that it will. Take my jump from a full-time corporate job to blogging full time: it was only when I truly started to picture myself as a full-time blogger did my dream job become a reality. Opportunities that I needed to make the leap started to arise such as gaining consistent work from brands. I literally changed my mindset from”Well, someday I’ll blog full time.” to “Nope, this is happening. April 2017 I am putting in my 2-week notice so that I can finally blog full time. ”
Now I’m not saying to just sit on your bum, blow out your birthday candles, make a wish at 11:11 and poof all your dreams will come true. No way. You have to be proactive and go after the things you want in your life. Be willing to put in the time, effort, sweat, blood, and tears, to make the changes happen. I spent 5 years growing my blog into what it is today learning everything I could and dedicating countless hours, holidays, weekends, etc. to make it a successful business. But just as you can wish for something and not put the effort in can you go through the motions and never actually believe it will amount to something. It requires two things: effort and belief. The question is when it comes to what you want in life, are you the kind of person that has both?
So I invite you all to read this book and start believing in yourselves and visualizing the changes you want to see in your life. I downloaded it on Audible and just listened to it casually on my daily commute. Whichever form floats your boat, give it a chance and let me know what you think.
P.S. I also manifested finding the perfect summer bag to go with literally everything and found this darling Saint Laurent bag 😉
