New York Fashion Week Flashback

It is that time of year again when all the fashionistas make their way to New York City- fashion capital of the world. This will be the first year time in 3 years that I will not be attending NYFW in September. I forwent my favorite trip of the year to get everything ready for my big move.  A sacrifice I was willing to make. But that doesn’t mean I wont be living vicariously through my girlfriends and fellow bloggers who are going. In order to celebrate my favorite time of year in the fashion world, I’ve rounded up my favorite looks from past seasons.

The first photo was taken at my very first Fashion Week.  My dream of going to fashion week came true and every moment was incredible. The dress is BCBG Max Azria and still a favorite of mine. It holds so many special memories. I remember breaking in my blush Valentino Rockstud pumps for the first time. I got to wear them before every blogger had a pair. These are still my favorite heels and actually comfortable now. More photos of my first trip here.

This orange print dress was bought at Asos months before fashion week. I thought that if I waited to wear it, it would be sold out and no one else would have it.  The funny thing was, a friend of mine showed up in the exact same dress! Luckily, hers was blue. We posted a “Bitch stole my look” photo and Asos actually reposted it on their Instagram. Priceless and totally worth it.

The bag I wore is from the Phillip Lim x Target collection launch party where everything flew off the shelves. Including this little bag, but not before I was able to grab one off the man replenishing the empty shelves. The shoes are from Zara. I should have gotten them when I first saw them in the store. Instead, I ended up paying twice the original price buying them on Ebay. Totally worth it, but lesson learned.  If you love it, buy it when you see it. I loved the way the prints of both the shoes and the dress both played off each other and also complimented one another.

This is probably my favorite dress in my closet. I wore it to the BCBC Max Azria show. Fitting as it is a BCBG dress that I bought for $45 at the outlet mall. The detailing on this dress is amazing and if I saw it today, I would probably pay close to full price for it. The fact that I got it at such a steal makes it all the more special. I wore it with a lucite clutch that Kier made me and my Valentino Rockstud pumps– obvi. More photos here.

My first, and so far only, trip to NYFW in the winter was freezing! I remember running from taxis to shows and into the hotel as fast as I could run in 4 inch heels. One good thing about going to NYC in February was getting to wear my winter coats which almost never see the light of day in Southern California.

My favorite look was this one.  I added a DIY faux fur caplet that I made to this jacket to add some texture.  Every one kept telling me I looked like a Russian Princess. Underneath I wore a Clover Canyon dress and probably two pairs of nylons just to help keep my legs warm.  I thought growing up in the frigid temperatures of Minnesota that I would be able to handle the cold of NYC in February. Not even close. I came way under prepared. This was probably the warmest outfit that I wore. Next time I go in February, I am bringing parkas and boots.  Check out the video of this trip here and more photos of this look here.

Looking back at all these wonderful photos makes me miss New York and Fashion Week so much. But the memories I’ll make in my new home will more than make up for it. Besides, there is always February and September of next year. Which I do NOT plan to miss. I’ll be posting my favorite memories and more photos from past New York Fashion week moments on Friday! Make sure to check back to see more!

xoxo,

Laura
